You have your domain name picked out and registered. You would think the next step is to purchase hosting. I say hold off. Why pay for something that you don’t have content for just yet. You can start to build your online brand using social media. all the while creating your website content and styling your brand. While you are deciding on your logo and awaiting your business cards you can start tweeting and posting to facebook.
Before you start any of that, create a gmail account for your business. If you start out doing this and down the road need to hand over your accounts to a social media manager, you will have the privacy built in. This gmail account will be tied to social media only! Create the account and then when you signup for all the different social media platforms use this gmail. There will be loads of emails sent to this account. When someone likes your tweet? retweets, pins your pin, hearts your instagram post and so on. That is not even taken into account the tips and tricks the platforms will send to you too.
How do you set up a gmail?
Very simple actually.
2) click Gmail and the signin screen will open
3) click on Create account
4) create a branded gmail account. for example: email@example.com
Use this account to signup and register for your social media accounts. Most will send a verification email to confirm.
Remember to do that step.
You can also set up google alerts and use this account for that as well. More about google alerts in another post!
Grow and Blossom!
