So like it or not, your business needs it’s own Facebook Page. This page should be separate from your personal Facebook Page.
Let’s set up your Facebook Business Page step by step.
Use this link www. facebook.com/business Do you see CREATE PAGE in the corner of the page, on the blue bar, top-right.
Right away you will need to think about what type of business am I? Which type do I pick? Are you a Coach selling courses, services, or advice? Would that be a brand? Or my brand is my name, so should I select public figure?
Your business may fall into multiple business types. Pick the type that is best for your brand. Not sure what that is? My best advice, and what I did myself was to look at other Business Pages. When you do, you will see on the right side just below the cover image, which type they chose.
Do some research, not to long? give yourself about 20 minutes tops and then pick one. Immediately you’ll be prompted to now choose a category, and then a name. Once you decide, you will agree to Facebook terms and conditions.
Please check and recheck your name for correct spelling and hit Get Started.
The next prompt allows you to enter your “about” information. This is where your Power Statement (in another post I talk about creating your Power Statement) would do nicely. Don’t have a Power Statement just yet? Just fill in the best 155 characters that you can to describe your business and brand.
Have a website? Instagram account and or twitter? include these here as well.
And finally your unique username is created at this prompt. Research other businesses and see… What did they do? Think, How will people find me on Facebook?
Remember those old aol emails.. firstname.lastname@example.org I actually still see some of those. Well here is not where you want to have that much of a unique user name. Try to use your business’ name as your unique Facebook Business Page user name.
Next we will upload a profile picture. If you have a logo upload that now. If you don’t you could upload your picture, or an image that represents your brand. I have another post on branding your Facebook Business Page. If you want to learn more about branding basics for your profile picture, cover image and Facebook posts.
Also a key to your online brand is A Power Statement. Visit my post here for Building YOUR Branded Power Statement
The next step is very important, add your Business Page to your favorites. Doing so will allow you to easily switch from your personal Facebook page to your Facebook Business Page.
Now we add Preferred Page Audience. So very important to not only build our your Facebook Business Page, but to be sure that it is easily found by your audience also know as your customers and or clients. Where are you located? What interests does your audience have? What is your ideal age range? Facebook is very smart.. listen to their suggestions when searching interests.
Once you hit Save your page is Live! Facebook will walk you through some features and I suggest you follow their prompts.
